Frequently Asked Questions — Uganda Safari Planning

Visas, vaccinations, gorilla permits, payment terms, cancellations, what to pack.

Booking Process

How do I book a tour with Mondo?
Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or our contact form. We'll send a custom quote within 24 hours. Once you approve the itinerary, we'll guide you through the secure booking process.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking 3-6 months ahead for peak season (July-October), 1-3 months for other times. For gorilla trekking, permits sell out fast, so 6 months advance booking is highly recommended.
Can I customize an existing tour package?
Absolutely! All our tours are fully customizable. Think of our listed packages as inspiration — we can adjust durations, accommodations, and activities to suit your specific desires.

Payments

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept international bank transfers, mobile money (for local/regional clients), PayPal, and all major credit cards via our secure payment gateway.
Is a deposit required?
Yes, a 30% deposit confirms your booking and secures permits/accommodations. The balance is due 30 days before departure.
What is your cancellation policy?
Full refund 60+ days before departure; 50% refund 30-60 days before; no refund under 30 days. Gorilla permits are non-refundable according to wildlife authority rules. We strongly advise travel insurance.

Visas & Documentation

Do I need a visa for Uganda?
Most nationalities require a visa. The East Africa Tourist Visa ($100) is highly recommended as it covers multiple entries for Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda.
Can Mondo help with visa processing?
Yes! Our visa team handles applications for all major passports as part of our comprehensive service.
How long does visa processing take?
Standard processing takes 5-7 business days. Express processing (24-48 hours) is available for an additional fee.

Safety & Health

Is Uganda safe for tourists?
Uganda is generally very safe for tourists. We operate exclusively in established, secure areas and our experienced guides are trained in safety protocols.
What health precautions are needed?
A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required for entry. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended. Please consult your travel doctor 4-6 weeks before departure.
Do you have emergency protocols?
Yes. We maintain 24/7 emergency contact, have partnerships with top hospitals in Kampala, and all our vehicles are equipped with first aid kits and communication devices.

Safari Experience

What should I pack for a safari?
Pack neutral-colored clothing (khaki/olive), binoculars, good walking shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, a wide-brimmed hat, and a warm fleece for cool early mornings.
What's the best time to visit Uganda?
The dry seasons (Dec-Feb and June-Sept) are best for wildlife viewing. However, gorilla trekking is done year-round.
Will I actually see gorillas?
Gorilla permits have a 98% sighting success rate. Our guides communicate with advance trackers daily to locate the families.

Customization & Special Requests

Can I request specific activities?
Yes! Whether it's a hot air balloon ride, a specific cultural village visit, or a night game drive, tell us your interests and we'll integrate them.
Do you cater for dietary restrictions?
Absolutely. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal — simply inform us when booking and we'll ensure all lodges and camps accommodate you perfectly.
Can you arrange honeymoon/anniversary packages?
Our romance packages include special touches: champagne sundowners, private bush dinners, couples' massages, and exclusive private camps.
